Folding Doors

Accordian folding doors were derived from an early Chinese concept of using ornately designed wood screens as partitions or room emclosures. These screens did not extend to the ceiling. This concept of partitioning was later used in medieval European cathedrals to separate the sanctuary from the church body. The primary difference from folding screens invented 2,200 years ago and accordion folding doors developed in the 20th Century is that the latter extend to the ceiling and are suspended from an overhead track. The function of the modern accordion door is esseentially the same as when invented in an earlier Chinese culture.

Folding doors meet the needs of a variety of architectural applications calling for convenience, design flexibility, space utilization and save considerable floor and wall space providing instant walls when needed.

Recognized as the industry leader, this product line reflects more than four decades of experence in manufacturing folding doors and walls. Continuous product improvement in the past and the future assures the owner the best possible product.

Each door is custom made to size and features a unique continuous pin hardware system applied top and bottom to ensure positive controlled action.

Features: Our top and bottom hardware hinge system eliminates the stretching of the vinyl panel connectors. This system is riveted to the top steel hardware system for additional strength and durability. The steel hardware hinge system allows these doors to "stay put" whether in the stacked or extended position. This metal hinge system provides rigidity and strength while the partition or door is fully extended.

Panels: Available in vinyl-lam or natural hardwood veneer faces, all (excluding Series 440/540) are 4 1/4" wide by 1/4" thick.

Panel Connectors: Extruded vinyl, barbed and imbedded in saw kerfs in panel edges with special adhesives(excluding 440/540 acrylics).

Track: 1 1/8" x 1" x .062" aluminum, dark bronze or clear finish; I-beam style curvable track option also available(excluding Series 2100 and 3300).

Stacking Space: 1 1/4" per linear foot plus 2 3/4" for lead post, except Series 140, 220, and 3300.

Hardware Hinging: 18-guage steel, in dark bronze or clear finish, mounted at top and bottom of connected panels.

220 Series

Series 220, again featuring the pin hinge hardware system, conveniently and attractively separates living areas. The modified handle (sweptwing style) minimizes stack space. Among the benefits of the 220 Series door as room dividers are: space and energy conservation when used to zone for heating and air conditioning within the residential living areas. Other frequent uses include separation of sleeping and living areas within efficiency-style housing units, the convenient division of basement or family room recreation areas or galley-style kitchen facilities. The Series 220 has been routinely specified over the past 20 years for use as room dividers in public housing, retirement housing, assisted living, health care and hospitality installations.
